I have never really considered a 12-bolt for my car, but I found one with 1500miles on it and it's local to me. It has an eaton posi, 33 spline axles, 800lb spring, all new carrier bearings and studs and comes with backing plates. It's $1500 if I go pick it up. It does a have a little decel whine.

I had intended on ordering a strange s60 until this fell in my lap. In a way I want something that is new, quiet, and won't give me problems.

What are your experiences with 12-bolts?

my 12 bolt did fine, other than the c-clip eliminators leaking. i redid the seals like 4 times while i had it.
mine had 33 splines, eaton hd, and 4.30 gear.

I plan to shoot the piss out of my car from the hole. I just don't want to drop money into a 12-bolt and have the same issues as the 10-bolt.

With the auto you'll never have an issue with a 12 bolt, I'd run whatever is lighter and/or cheaper.

I think all aftermarket 12bolts/9inches have a little whine. My old one did and it was brand new.

I know of three that have torn up after a few hard launches. It's just a good deal. I just want to buy a rear end and never have to worry about it again.

Moser 33 spline axles.
Moser Housing.
I put 1/2" studs in for the carrier caps in place of the bolts.
LPW aftermarket low profile aluminum cover.
Standard 12mm wheel studs.
3 channel ABS
4 Series Posi Unit
4.10 Richmond gear set - part# 6900311

That is exactly the same rear that I had. It was great and had minor whine on decel as well. I think for 1500 you are stealing it as that unit would probably run you $3,000+ new. As was previously said, with and automatic, you won't ever have to worry about it.

Also I have read that the 12 bolt is slightly less parasitic than the 9 inch. Obviously I can't prove it but I KNOW I read it in several different places.

The same thing would run about 2800 new. The only complaint the current owner has now is that it whines on decel and could possibly use a little more shim on the pinion. He said he checked the gear pattern and it looked great.

Well if you decide you don't want it let me know because I might look into it. Only if you decide otherwise. I'm not trying to step on toes.

They all can break, if that was not the case they would not make replacement parts biggrin
Auto car, get what ever is cheapest/lightest.

Might have to change the TA rear mount depending on what you got and what you go with.

$1500 for it is a good price if local and with backing plates. if you pass on it shoot me a PM.
