only way a lifter "ate" the new motor is if some dumbass installed it wrong, but it's fresh, so there could be any combination of wrongs to kill it.

That sucks. New lifters can break. I know you have a new transmission. I once heard loose converter bolts make a knock. Sounded like a rod knocking.

its not lifters and its not the rods you can hear it knocking on something on starter rpm so im leaning towards flywheel bolts

I have a oil leak...I must have thrown a rod out the side of the block. Oh sorry, it was just the valve cover I forgot to tighten.

did you use loctite thread sealant on the flywheel bolts or tq?
