This may seem like a dumb question, but I have a Z28 with a performabuilt automatic and 3400 stall. This is my first 'fun' car with an auto, and the first car I've ever driven with a stall and it just drives odd.

The trans shifts hard as SHIT! I figured this is due to the shift kit, and thats fine, but it seems like sometimes the car just sorta shifts when it wants to. Going 35mph on Base is nearly impossible due to the fact that the car wants to downshift and upshift back and forth at this MPH. Otherwise it's pretty good but sometimes just seems like it randomly shifts when I am accelerating or decelerating. I know that's what its supposed to do, but I guess it just seems odd.

You can have the line pressure and shift points adjusted in the tune. My truck was the same way until the last tune. It still shifts hard at time. But, it being a 3200 9.5" stall in a 4200lb vehicle makes finding a good foot-accelerator pressure consistency tricky.

Where can I find a good gm tuner in sc?

Also trans is a 4L60E, not sure on the specs to be honest. Just know its well built. Its not a manual valve body though.

Is the PCM stock or has it been tuned?

Almost all of these issues will be addressed in a tune. Controlling converter lock up and shifts should all be able to be managed through tuning, and will more than likely cure some issues you're having.

Like Shon said there are some guys up here in the Charleston area that have tuning abilities.

Electech on the board is in the Charleston area and is a very good tuner if you do not want to go to the UPSTATE

I'm not far from Charleston so I think I'll keep him in mind. Does he use a dyno? What software?

My car has been tuned before but I'm kinda questioning the quality of the tune.

If you had 98 or 99 I could do it for free. But i dont have the licenses for the 2000 and up. Its probably your lockup that your having the issue with

Sounds like a tune issue. I fought similar issues for a while, but finally got it worked out with the help and knowledge of Jamie (Electech). He is more than capable of helping you out, along with the guys up in the upstate. You can't go wrong with either of them!

As for me, my car drives almost like stock, with the exception of the added stall speed. It goes into lock up at 45ish and doesn't jump in and out of gear like yours is doing.

What tuning software does he use? And does he use a Dyno?

Jaime will either do a street tune or a dyno tune.

Any good tuner will do both IMO.
